so proud of him

On Thursday Logan finished his last final and now has his bachelor's degree. I am so proud of all his hard work, especially his last 2 semesters. I love you Logan and am so proud to call you my husband.

I wanted to get him something that he wouldn't ever guess I'd buy...he was quite surprised. Especially after he heard that I went in to gun store and did a background check...so not me ;)

Congratulations Logan! You've done it!

Fenn Christmas

With everyone going their separate ways for Christmas, we decided to celebrate yesterday. It was so much fun and really felt like Christmas. My parents came up for the party and that made it even more special for all of us. Mom even shed a tear or 2 :)

We had a delicious dinner of white chili, a super yummy salad and texas roadhouse rolls (good call Ryan & Lani!). Followed by a gingerbread house competition and presents.

We tried to make it really special for my parents since they'll be leaving soon and I think we were successful! All the kids and spouses drew names a month or so ago and then we all pitched in and got my parents some really great gifts to use on their mission.

We all LOVE you Mom & Dad :)

Here are a few pictures from the evening

we were supposed to wear something ugly, but most of us didn't have time this week. Blake & Julie did a great job, don't you love their turtlenecks? Lola wanted in on the picture too :)

Maddox hangin' with Uncle Logan, when I told him to look at the camera he pointed at me

Blake & Julie's cute A-Frame house (reminiscent of a lot of houses in my hometown)

we hardly want to put our names on it...yes this is mine and Logan's, it started out different and ended up being some white bunker sort of thing

my dad, being the contractor that he is, really got into this, we all joked that he was gonna make a replica of the Rome temple ha

he even got the glasses out :)

Zac and Kara's was really cool...and then the roof caved in, but, his was the only "green" house with solar panels on top. I personally liked his car.

Ryan & Lani's humble abode
I love their little wreath above the door

And the winner is....
Mom & Dad, it was pretty fancy, the picture doesn't do it justice!

Maddox with some new toys and a new beanie from grandma

 He sure loves his grandpa

Logan has been pretty sick, he was a good sport to take a picture with me :)

I didn't get any pictures of us opening gifts, but we all went home with plenty of great loot!
Thanks everyone for the great Christmas celebration, it was so wonderful.

today

After being married for 3 years...we finally got our first Christmas tree. I know, it's pretty sad, but as Logan said today "we're real people now." Thus, I had to document our day.

So excited to have a fresh tree in our house...it smells so delicious

We didn't have any ornaments so I decided to make some. I ended up making about 10 of these...and it took awhile, but I love them!

My grandmother made my family stockings when I was very little. We used them every year and we all loved them growing up. Before my grandmother passed away 2 years ago she made all the kids in our family a set of stockings for our future families, including smaller ones for kids. I pulled ours out today and it warmed my heart. These mean a lot to me and always will, I love having them up.

I'm sure there will be more pictures to come as this is our first year really decorating for Christmas :)

Have a great day!

thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving in California with my family this year and we had a lot of fun...but I didn't take a lot of pictures. So here are a few, hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving!

We stopped in St. George to meet our new nephew, Ridge, and I was so sad to leave the tiny little guy. He's barely a little more than 6 lbs and he felt so so teeny tiny! We already love him so much.

My parents live in the mountains in California in a town called Lake Arrowhead. On the front of the mountain is an arrowhead that's been there forever...like since native americans lived there. You'll have to click on it to see it better I think.

This year for Thanksgiving we gave all the turkeys out there a break. We had ribs and tri-tip steak...and when I say ribs, I mean lots and lots of them. It was quite delicious.

Uncle Logan & Maddox waiting for our movie to start

What else did we do in California....saw the Muppets, hung out and spent a lot of time with family, cooked some yummy food besides Thanksgiving dinner, ate pizza at one of my favorite places in my home town, oh yeah, and got sick. Well, I got sick, Logan luckily missed that one.

Hope you all have a great few weeks getting ready for CHRISTMAS!!

I'm blank because

Ashley over at Little Miss Momma shared a post today and it inspired me to do the same thing in my post today. This post made me think about some things in my life and help me be more humble. I have so much to be thankful for. (this is only about me, Dresden, not Logan :))

I'm weird because...
I have hic-cups every morning
I ride my spin bike while watching Gilmore Girls about 5 nights a week
I don't like pie
I could eat graham crackers broken up in milk every day
I have a crush on jimmy fallon and I think my husband has a man crush on him ;)
I've never tried a hamburger from McDonalds
I used to work at In-N-Out, yep cute outfit and all ;)
I love watching Cheers
I love silly cat pictures

I'm sad because...
my dad (#1 supporter of everything I do) and mom (my best friend) are leaving in January for a 3 year mission, it's gonna be rough for awhile
it's getting cold, though the snow is pretty, I get tired of freezing in my car on the way to work
my nieces and nephews are growing way too fast

I'm happy because...
I get to meet my new nephew next week!! And hold him and love him :)
I get to go home next week for Thanksgiving
I get to save up to visit my parents next year
my husband graduates in December!
I have a warm home, food in my fridge and clothing
I have the most loving family
I have the best job I could ever ask for
I have such amazing examples in my life

I'm excited to...
see how much fun my parents are going to have
see the impact my parents have on the people in Rome
get some new boots for Christmas :)
see how much snow we get this Winter
see what my children look like,
if they are half as beautiful as my nieces and nephews I'll be one lucky gal
